OUR FOCUS
RDRC’s Division of Employment Services provides employment
readiness training and placement services to adults. Our trained
and experienced staff of Intake Specialists, Case Managers, Instructors
and Job Developers placed over 200 persons into permanent employment
and 200-plus persons in educational and/or vocational training programs
in 2007.
OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
CASE MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYMENT COUNSELING SERVICES
RDRC’s Case Mangers conduct a comprehensive assessment of
every person attending our initial Employment Services Orientation.
Our assessment includes verification of educational background,
work history, social service needs, and in some cases, level of
English proficiency. All individuals are pre-tested on the Tests
for Adult Basic Education. Reading, language, mathematics, and spelling
are the areas measured. Once the assessment has been completed,
Case Managers will work with every client to set up goals and a
timetable to reach those goals.
EMPLOYMENT READINESS TRAINING COURSE
RDRC’s Employment Readiness Training Course is an intensive
three-week training program emphasizing the necessary skills and
proper attitudes needed to obtain and retain employment. Students
learn how to follow instructions, accept criticism, undertake group
efforts, dress and speak appropriately for the workplace and conduct
successful job searches with the guidance of our job developers.
PLACEMENT SERVICES.
Our Job Development team is able to identify suitable employment
opportunities through an established network of contacts with employers
located throughout NYC and Long Island, NY. In addition to our Annual
Job Fair, RDRC hosts industry-specific Job Fairs to meet the needs
of our business clients.
POST-GRADUATE SERVICES
Our case management staff remains in contact with the newly placed
individuals for one year following initial employment. Once a participant
completes RDRC’s three-week course they are eligible for RDRC
services for life.
DADS EMBRACING FATHERHOOD PROGRAM
Through the “Strengthening
Families through Stronger Fathers Initiative” and STRIVE,
RDRC is one of the four partners, working with non-custodial fathers
through the Dads Embracing Fatherhood (DEF) Program. The goal of
DEF is to provide guidance and training to non-custodial parents
in developing healthy relationships, responsible parenting and enhancing
economic stability through a rigorous free 10-week workshop. Additionally
it assists non-custodial parents with child support, visitation
and custody issues to ensure holistic care of children and families.
