RDRC’s Division of Business & Professional Services supports the commercial revitalization of the Rockaways through the delivery of professional services to local businesses, property owners, business and trade associations throughout the Rockaways.

OUR SERVICES

Business and Technical Assistance Services

Funded by the NYC Department of Small Business Services and the NY City Council, BPS assists our clients in identifying government-funded incentives and services; loan packaging; planning; marketing and communications; and in obtaining M/WBE certification for qualified business.

Micro Enterprise Development

Business & Professional Services offers technical assistance and counseling services to entrepreneurs and start-up businesses. We offer Power Point presentations that provide financial and technical assistance from the NYC Business Solutions Center, and initiative of the NYC Department of Small Business Services. Our services are geared to the start up entrepreneur who lacks traditional access to capital requirements as well as fundamental business practices.

Rockaway Peninsula Empire Zone

RDRC is the administrator of the NYS Empire Zone Program for the Rockaway peninsula. To view a map of the NYS Empire Zones go onto this link MAPS. The Empire Zone Program enables RDRC to offer qualified businesses a package of economic incentives and utility discounts that support the local community’s economic stability and encourage employment growth. In order to meet the rapid expansion of real estate development and business expansion occurring in the central and western portions of the Peninsula, RDRC received City approval to expand the empire zone to 116th Street.

Industrial and Commercial Abatement Program

The Industrial and Commercial Abatement Program (ICAP) provides a partial exemption from or abatement of property taxes for varying periods of up to 25 years for eligible industrial and commercial buildings that are built, modernized, rehabilitated, expanded, or otherwise physically improved. Eligibility for ICAP benefits may also allow a participant to receive reduced energy rates through programs administered by the NYC Department of Small Business Services.
